| Screen to use with document camera |
Improvement/Rational - Keeping with technology as an influence and the way to go in the future buying a document camera for the library would be a good item to buy. Reading stories for kids is great, but being able to put them on the overhead screen so they are large enough for everyone in the whole library to see anywhere would be amazing. Librarians used to buy "big" books for stories, but they are expensive and you only read them a couple of times. Every story in the library can become that "big" book.
The document camera would also be useful for when teachers want to borrow it for their classrooms and do their lessons from a book on the overhead. They really encourage classroom participation.
Concerns - Cost vs quality. I have started looking into them and one friend uses one and completely loves it. But they can range from $250-$1,500 and there are the quality concerns to consider with the cheaper ones.

Improvement - Buy a document camera and use it in the library for lessons, stories and loaning to classrooms for the same thing. Cost - probably would have to buy a cheaper one, the $400 range. My friend has one in that price range and believes it is good enough.
Communication Plan - I will have to do some deep research on each camera and the costs, then present the pros and cons of each one to my AO and we can come to a conclusion as to which one would be best for our needs at school.
Timeline - this will not be a fast purchase as the budget is getting pretty small by the end of this school year. But this is something that can start to be researched now and perhaps bought next fall. Giving me a chance to learn all about the Apple TV first and teach the staff that first before moving on to a document camera.
Challenges - Convincing some staff that this is a great item. I have seen them used many times and I believe they are great. If the money comes from the library side, the staff will not be concerned, however, if the money comes from a general account then the staff might be concerned and I will have to do my best job to sell this idea for the staff.
