Improvement/Rational - We have a small trophy at the front entrance to the school. When asking for ideas for this project, my principal suggest promoting some books or series in the the trophy case. I had never thought about this before. I also like this idea as it ties into my online book reviews. Instead of me writing about what this book is about. I can take some of my online book reviews, print off what they say and put it beside the book. This way there is student ownership in the display and hopefully those students will show the other students, then many of them will want to have this honour.
Timeline - This is something that can start right away, but only over a a short period as once it gets old people will stop looking. But this is something that could be done every year from winter break to spring break or spring break to the end of the year.
Concerns - The biggest concern is having books tied up in a case and then they cannot be taken out. However, if the books used are changed every week I cannot see it being a big issue.
Improvement - This is a good way to advertise the library to the parents that would not normally come in to visit me in the library.
Communication Plans - I will have to get a set of keys for the cabinet from the secretary so I can get in and out of the book case. I will also have to talk to each student about promoting their work. I do not wish to share a student's work if they do not want it shared. It is a respect thing and I believe the students like it when I ask them that first.
Challenges - Keeping the display fresh, new, exciting. This can be hard for me as I am not very artistic. I could perhaps ask a couple of the artistic students if they would like to help to spice it up a little and then I can place the books and their reviews in front of the display in the trophy case.
